What families say after working with us

The situation

A family of four adult children needed to understand what documents existed for their mother's estate following her passing in April 2025. Papers were stored in two rooms and had not been sorted for many years. No one knew whether the property title was original or a copy, or whether a 2008 insurance policy had ever been updated.

What we did

We conducted a three-hour Document Inventory Session at the family home. One hundred and fourteen separate items were catalogued. The 2008 insurance policy was located; a more recent policy from 2014 was found in a separate folder. The original property title was present. Three items were noted as missing — a birth certificate and two older vehicle grants — with the relevant offices identified.

The outcome

The family arrived at their solicitor meeting two weeks later with a printed inventory. The solicitor commented that it was the most organised set of initial documents she had received from a family in that situation. The three missing items were subsequently obtained through the offices listed in the inventory. Time from session to complete document set: four weeks.

The situation

An extended family with documents in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Perak engaged us following the passing of the family patriarch. Records dated from the 1950s and included documents in Malay, English and Mandarin. Fourteen living family members held documents relevant to the estate, and coordination between them was difficult.

What we did

We undertook the Complete Estate Records Programme over nine months. Home visits to KL and one Pahang branch. Courier collection from Perak. Accredited translation for Mandarin documents. Genealogy research through the national registry traced three generations. We produced per-branch folder sets — four branches in total — and held four family briefing meetings to keep all parties aligned.

The outcome

At handover, the family received a printed index, four branch folder sets, an encrypted digital archive, and a family timeline covering 1952–2025. The professional advisers subsequently appointed had a complete picture of the estate from the first meeting. The genealogy research confirmed that two properties the family had assumed were held jointly were in fact registered differently, which the advisers were able to address early.

The situation

A couple in their early seventies contacted us proactively. Both in good health, they wanted their papers organised while they were still able to explain what everything was. Their two children lived overseas and would otherwise have to manage the documents remotely at some future point.

What we did

We conducted the Family Archive Build over six weeks. The couple attended the two review meetings and were able to provide context for ambiguous items — for example, confirming that a photocopy of a title was a working copy and the original was held at the bank. This reduced the number of missing-item queries significantly. We also scanned personal photographs the family wanted preserved alongside the legal documents.

The outcome

Each child received an encrypted archive copy via courier after handover. The couple have a printed index at home and an acid-free box for the originals. When we spoke to them two months later, they said that the process had prompted them to arrange two appointments they had been postponing — which was, they noted, entirely their own decision following the inventory.
